In 2013, Chroma Design led a team that prepared the landscape master plan for the main campus at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Since then, the firm has worked with Olsson Associates engineers on several projects outlined in the master plan. Projects included a one-mile multi-use perimeter pathway; campus gateways at the east and west entrances; a concept for planted medians along a perimeter highway; and a central fountain plaza. These projects are part of a 20-year site redevelopment program outlined in the plan whose primary objective is to develop a green, contiguous campus core. Each site design project implements master plan principles such as encouraging walking as the primary mode of travel. The designs also recommend materials laid out in the master plan including dolomitic limestone identity walls, thematic plantings, brick and stone entry monuments, and complementary site furnishings.
