Washington Street Bridge Gateway

Petersburg, Virginia

The Washington Street Bridge was selected for the community’s gateway because over 88,000 vehicles pass under it each day and it is the primary route to downtown Petersburg from Interstate 95. The city has a long history of wrought iron architectural work going back to the seventeenth century. Chroma’s arch design presents a modern interpretation of a historic wrought iron fence pattern. Dramatic night lighting and a framing landscape complete the transformative composition. The firm prepared construction documents and provided construction administration.
