Chroma Design prepared design guidelines and implementation drawings for a new city-wide park and open space sign system for Lafayette, Colorado. A need for updated image and character signs were identified in the City’s Comprehensive Plan and Vision Plan. Lafayette, a city of 24,450 people is approximately 9 square miles in size and manages 19 parks, the Indian Peaks Golf Course, and 967 acres of open space with over 20 miles of multi-use trails. The designed sign system includes a family of signs that embrace local mining, and vibrant cultural, theme while using indigenous materials. It includes Identity, Wayfinding, Trailhead, and Interpretive signs to fit each location. Sign designs incorporate stratified color concrete bases, steel I-beam structures, colorful highlights, and low maintenance information panels.
